Vcheck FAQ's
-
What is a Vcheck?
Vcheck is a new report comprising information sourced from Queensland Transport’s registration database, national written-off and stolen vehicle information and vehicle encumbrance REVS information held by Queensland's Office of Fair Trading. Vcheck replaces the WOVR certificate.
-
There are 4 Vchecks, which ones have the history on them?
Vcheck History and Vcheck Premium show the Queensland Transport history.
-
Does a Vcheck include previous owner details?
NO, a Vcheck with history provides transfer details including dates, purpose of use and where available, the speedo reading.
-
What Vcheck should I get when taking a trade?
The Vcheck Premium gives you all of the available information on a vehicle including history and REVS. If you don’t check the history prior to acquisition, you may end up with a vehicle that has a history you didn’t count on.
The scenario is that you may acquire a vehicle for say $30,000 without getting the Vcheck Premium and then when you go to sell or wholesale it, the buyer gets their own Vcheck and finds out that it was previously a write-off. Will they still want the vehicle? What's it worth now?

What is the difference between a Vcheck and the old WOVR?
Vcheck and Vcheck Plus are point in time reports like WOVR was.
There is however a very important difference between the old WOVR and the Vcheck History and Vcheck Premium reports. They include history, whereas WOVR only provided point in time information.
Vcheck History and Vcheck Premium will tell you whether the vehicle was EVER a write-off and subsequently repaired.

What can I sell a Vcheck to the public for?
There is no restriction on what you can sell a Vcheck to the public for however there are some very important points to consider.
1. If you are providing a Vcheck to a customer in order to comply with your Property Agents and Motor Dealer’s Act requirement to provide REVS dated the day of sale, you are bound by this legislation to only charge a maximum of $10.00 on top of your cost of the REVS certificate. As the cost of the REVS certificate is now included in part of a wider report, compliance with this part of the Act is open to interpretation.
We recommend that you either provide separate Vcheck and REVS certificates and only on cost $10.00 to the REVS certificate or only on cost $10.00 to the Vcheck certificate where it is sourced in place of a REVS on sale.
Vcheck certificates including the REVS component that are being provided outside of the PAMD requirement, such as when taking a trade, are not subject to on cost restrictions when you sell them.
2. Remember that the public can source a Vcheck themselves.
