Photography Tools in Dashboard V3

If you have been following our latest dashboard releases, you will know that we have been launching new photography features on Dashboard v3 week after week, but in case you missed them, this blog post compiles them all for you!

Some of the following features were already live on our previous Dashboard, a.k.a. Dashboard V2 and some are only available on our new Dashboard V3 so, please keep on reading to learn how you can make the most of all the photography tools available to you.

For starters, here is how you can access the photography section on our new Dashboard:


View Inventory

On the left-hand side, select “Inventory” > “View Inventory.”

In here, you will be able to see a high-level overview of your inventory, and filter/sort your results according to your criteria.



Note: The possibilities with our new Dashboard are endless as we keep on adding new features every week. However, on this blog post, we focus on photography-related features only.


Displaying Inventory list for

Under this screen, you can filter your inventory by different criteria, including, “Without Photos” which is useful when you need to check the stock that is due for photography, or is displaying a “coming soon” generic photo.



Sorting your Inventory photos

You can perform this function by selecting the “Photos” heading on our Dashboard V3. This will sort the vehicles with and without photos in ascending or descending order according to the number of photos per vehicle. To see further details, click on each “Stock Number” and all the relevant information for that vehicle will show.

Here’s is where the magic happens! Under the photo tab on your “Vehicle Details” section, you will find several functions that will make managing and sorting your vehicle photos feel like a breeze – hear us out:


Drag and drop

You can rearrange the order of the photos on this page as you please – this is particularly useful if you want to refresh an inactive listing to appear like a new vehicle on your website by shuffling the order of the photos. The order of your photos here will mirror your advertising destinations. And if you have a Dealer Solutions website, all the changes that you make on our Dashboard, will also reflect on your website!



Add Photos

Now you can easily browse, drag and drop a selection of photos or an entire album to the relevant stock item.



The “Options” tab

Under this tab, you will find the following options:

Resend Photos: use this function to resend all photos to all the advertising destinations you currently use. Please note that if branding restrictions are in place, some photos might still not be published despite selecting this option.

Duplicate To: well, let’s say you have 14 white Toyota Corollas with the same specs. This function allows you to allocate the same group of photos to all 14 inventory items. Super easy, right?

Here’s a tip: we highly recommend using this function for vehicles without license plates and be mindful of any OEM restrictions!

Clear all photos: it’s 4:45 pm on a Friday, and you’re determined to get your vehicle photos updated and ready for the weekend, so you load a bunch of Ford Rangers photos to a VW Golf listing – not good! But thankfully with this feature, your problem will be solved, literally, by the click of a button.



With the “Clear all photos” you will be removing all the unwanted photos from all destinations, including your Dealer Solutions website.

Then, our smart Dashboard will automatically place a “coming soon” placeholder, so your listing will still show but without the incorrect image.

When you return to work the next morning, the listing will show under the “Without Photo” category and the “coming soon” image will remain visible across the advertising destinations until you upload a new set of photos.


Rotate and Rubbish Bin

These are almost self-explanatory, but worth learning about what these functions do just in case!

Rotate: it allows you to rotate the image 90° at a time. This is particularly useful if you are taking photos via your mobile device and realize you had your phone upside down after importing them all to our Dashboard – believe us, it happens more often than what you would think!

Rubbish bin a.k.a. Remove: not to be confused with “Clear All” – this function only removes the image from our Dashboard and not from your advertising destinations. If you have a Dealer Solutions website, this will also remove that image from the respective vehicle detail page.

For peace of mind, once an image is selected, you will be given the option to save the changes or discard them, so you will never remove an image without being asked twice.

Here’s a tip: this feature is most useful where you have replacement photos ready to add to ensure photos are overwritten on advertising destinations



Download All

Another feature is the “Download All” option, which allows you to download all the images associated with a particular listing. All photos will be downloaded in the same uploaded quality. If you use Dealer Solutions for all your photography services, your photos will be in high resolution and suitable for printed and display purposes.

We’re sure this function will be one of your favourites! Especially if you usually send photos to your advertising agencies.

Likewise, if you are using, Digipurple for all your Google Display and Facebook Ads, our team will be able to jump into your Dashboard and grab these images on your behalf and pass them onto the Digipurple team!



View Photos

We introduced the “View Photos” section so you now can see a summary of each stock item and their set of thumbnails.

The Photo Type describes if the stock items have “Actual” photos assigned to the stock item or “Sample” photos from our New Car Image Archive product.

If “Sample” photos are assigned, the photo count will display as 0.
